when deeply practicing prajna-paramita,
clearly saw that the five skandhas are all empty,
and was saved from all suffering and distress.
观自在菩萨
4 }  [& f) o. h2 b2 R! H6 H行深般若波罗蜜多时
照见五蕴皆空度一切苦厄
Sariputra,
form is no different to emptiness,
& b$ v  c* O; Z; [0 Bemptiness no different to form.
That which is form is emptiness,
. S  t2 j" |' ]+ j4 k6 fthat which is emptiness, form.
舍利子
( O2 |+ s4 S4 n( r色不异空空不异色
# b+ l) k6 |3 E( c% K1 _色即是空空即是色
Sensations, perceptions, impressions, and consciousness are also like this.
受想行识亦复如是
Sariputra,
all things and phenomena are marked by emptiness;
they are neither appearing nor disappearing,
+ e: u  u8 |+ _* ]* Nneither impure nor pure,
3 _( N% i0 y; D3 h8 uneither increasing nor decreasing.
6 Y6 D4 u3 J3 \! k5 X- X舍利子
是诸法空相不生不灭
0 r: D; ~1 |. u; L' L不垢不净不增不减
Therefore, in emptiness,
! h0 _& B  e* W# s; }no forms, no sensations, perceptions, impressions, or consciousness;
no eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, mind;
是故空中无色无受想行识
无眼耳鼻舌身意
no sights, sounds, odors, tastes, objects of touch, objects of mind;
no realm of sight up to no realm of consciousness;
) s) z6 Y1 P% @. q9 t" z无色声香味触法
无眼界乃至无意识界
$ q# M' u: l) E& Z' X' F! hno ignorance and no end of ignorance,
and no end of aging and death;
无无明亦无无明尽
5 ?8 p0 i( j3 J; U) v乃至无老死亦无老死尽
6 E% ~# r/ M" B% f! V; }5 gno suffering, accumulation, cessation, or path;
no wisdom and no attainment.
无苦集灭道无智亦无得
! c5 w8 I) ^% p0 q' |4 f( AWith nothing to attain,
bodhisattvas
rely on prajna-paramita,
1 D6 j& B& |6 o6 O" ?and their minds are without hindrance.
以无所得故
菩提萨陲依般若波罗蜜多故
They are without hindrance,
and thus without fear.
2 ?4 K% _/ g1 @5 m" f* q1 ?; a& c& e心无碍无碍故无有恐怖
2 W; X' b& l# O0 f# `8 }Far apart from all confused dreams,
( G& X, N: T* L4 i* B8 v4 p/ c5 Cthey dwell in nirvana.
3 z, Y/ Z8 Z* t+ G; w* H远离颠倒梦想究竟涅盘
: w, P3 s2 S+ F, o% \; k# ~- zAll buddhas of the past, present and future
rely on prajna-paramita,
and attain anuttara-samyak-sambodhi.
三世诸佛依般若波罗蜜多故
; P2 y5 Z4 [, s0 v* v+ j0 k. j# c; H得阿耨多罗三藐三菩提
Therefore, know that prajna-paramita
is the great transcendent mantra,
+ E$ N# e* `" q+ J1 m7 rthe great bright mantra,
" w* i4 _7 `. s/ P* A4 Tthe supreme mantra,
. _* z; C/ x+ h1 wthe unequalled balanced mantra,
& d+ o# R" r3 f1 z3 tthat can eliminate all suffering,
and is real, not false.
故知般若波罗蜜多
. v. ^3 v) V* I是大神咒是大明咒是无上咒
0 ?; h! f% \+ s5 P" h是无等等咒能除一切苦真实不虚
So proclaim the prajna-paramita mantra,

# T" {2 q) ~; P% t" W( C6 Y. C! L故说般若波罗蜜多咒
& }8 D& F' u; h4 j4 N, H0 M% O即说咒曰
gate, gate,
paragate,
parasamgate,
bodhi, svaha!
揭谛揭谛波罗揭谛
波罗僧揭谛菩提娑婆诃
' U+ r  O% Q+ ^1 s4 W9 aThe Heart Sutra of Prajna.
般若波罗密多心经
