The golden willows by the riverside
) o2 M! N8 u f& EAre young brides in the setting sun;
- `5 A" Z2 g. ]6 W3 g1 y; sTheir reflections on the shimmering waves
2 q. m# x; g4 Y/ E5 d N9 F T& aAlways linger in the depth of my heart.

9 {! X1 }9 Z& g SSways leisurely under the water; 4 k3 l" Z# _* l; @
In the gentle waves of Cambridge ! P: G! z6 m2 u3 r. ]& ~
I would be a water plant! + V5 a2 F* ?! X& Q/ B. \
That pool under the shade of elm trees 1 `- t+ C( X$ B; {& s5 W
Holds not water but the rainbow from the sky; $ |8 s) M$ k, B6 d# A
Shattered to pieces among the duckweeds
F- s4 v% }* O" E0 e) LIs the sediment of a rainbow-like dream? ) ^# O- d. X+ |4 G* j- `0 M7 \
To seek a dream? Just to pole a boat upstream " O: H) F" L" _
To where the green grass is more verdant; , i! h+ V0 h% i" d/ U
Or to have the boat fully loaded with starlight D: A- P9 ^8 f6 Y! J
And sing aloud in the splendour of starlight. ! X# k! E5 B. [0 n( i4 M. q
But I cannot sing aloud : a# D0 e/ l( w+ c" ^0 `9 _
Quietness is my farewell music; 5 P! s" o3 H) Y8 { ?
Even summer insects heep silence for me - T: ^# C5 }* N) T
Silent is Cambridge tonight!
