A very good story

Jerry is the manager of a restaurant in America. He
& ]7 Y+ W; s  @) c2 Kis always in a
" W" w& x; l+ v3 Y. J  _: S) D2 K/ ugood mood and always has something positive to say.8 F" d$ R6 C% ~0 R% ~7 V; k
When someone would ask + t3 Q! ]: R8 N) p4 X" ], c
him how he was doing, he would always reply, "If I
* A: i- D9 K. c- d) ]$ y/ A2 wwere any  better, I 5 w; q0 W; c1 p3 u. q  q
would be twins!"6 E0 g5 r" j- Q3 d
Many of the waiters at his restaurant quit their  jobs
" x! e4 D0 m- Y7 O9 S* jwhen he changed - f; x( {" L: S
jobs, so they could follow him around from restaurant; B7 z7 b1 U, t8 o
to restaurant.
8 J5 q1 U; o8 @4 l9 GThe reason the waiters followed Jerry was because of
2 u: F' {" U: M* l) w# V0 ?his attitude. * O& ^0 D/ Z0 X- [3 A
He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having
* @! j) u% W4 E% a$ K) Va bad day, Jerry $ _' Z! f- A" N" k8 h
was always here, telling the employee how to look on; Z8 G7 R$ i- }) g# Z
the positive side
5 u" y: i( y+ n: A8 b! B7 Q" i" l; [of the situation.
0 L' n* ]. E& L+ P/ E( k- zSeeing this style really made me curious, so one day I4 j. y9 G5 Q8 {
went up to Jerry
, b- K+ c! W2 f/ ^and asked him, "I don't get it! / k; l* g) C' W; ^
No one can be a positive person all of the time. How* t) G2 {" a+ S$ B
do you do it?" 0 N2 @- b, ?2 O+ Z# o  U; `
Jerry replied,
( w+ \9 c, M2 t/ k' F6 z  C" j+ h"Each morning I wake up and say to myself, I have two
/ p* c8 Y; ~; p* r; Zchoices today. I 2 J6 v/ s$ G/ a
can choose to be in a good mood or I can choose to be7 w% e( V/ e2 D4 ]) }4 [* |
in a bad mood. I 5 z1 o8 U0 ^5 x4 k6 W  v1 Y
always choose to be in a good mood.
- \1 h2 R' v! A/ \/ c9 @# T. Z! f) t. H9 F. r0 W" f% y& Z
Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a) {& b- H8 }: E
victim or I can
2 R- k3 h/ ~$ l8 _1 rchoose to learn from it. I always choose to learn from2 C7 j. v1 f  c! U2 K3 \
it. Every time 6 F' z7 f2 y6 Z/ X& p: \9 l
someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to% G- b6 U6 Z2 f1 N) ]( {: a
accept their ) d# x* _4 H4 R+ n& j2 H
complaining or I can point out the positive side of
* ?; Y1 J/ t3 ?" e: t4 ^; Olife. I always
$ o) U# X1 _! d" I3 uchoose the positive side of life." 3 k4 `7 p( D! c0 U7 Q
"But it's not always that easy," I protested.
' l4 X& {0 V0 ^5 o/ j"Yes, it is," Jerry said "Life is all about choices.
5 @2 S# S% S! aWhen you cut away all the junk, every situation is a  r0 f8 T. e2 s4 r% v
choice. You choose ' \  T) f. {3 F4 S% [* a: E  e" o
how you react to situations. You choose how people
* Z( u1 r9 b; F' f* \7 Zwill affect your
6 ]1 V- P9 ^* s5 g6 bmood. You choose to be  in a good mood or bad mood.
6 b. w2 k1 w9 k3 ZIt's your choice how 9 `& O8 r( {: b; N7 y" m3 A
you live your life."
- X/ ^8 T3 {" m8 OSeveral years later, I heard that Jerry accidentally
$ I4 [9 l$ ~2 h& v+ Gdid something you are never supposed to do in the
' k. W: ]* [1 X+ T2 R& Qrestaurant business: left the back door of his 7 ~* F( k+ W1 b" D
restaurant open one morning and was robbed by three ( K/ ~0 {; f# O. U2 G
armed men. While trying to open the safe, his hand,
& f/ f$ C0 S9 c5 M1 g; F" \5 g5 Mshaking from nervousness slipped off the
' j! `8 r/ y$ ]( Z9 T6 o+ k9 hcombination. The robbers panicked and shot him. 3 M5 D9 F0 O2 Q; d4 w

% \0 R) u# s  Q  j  e6 M. L6 k4 O: ^. p/ j
Luckily, Jerry was found quickly and rushed to the * s) |9 o# M. g, \
hospital. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of
5 Y' t% B  Z( `% ?; R: Z3 k* n4 c' M9 Rintensive care, Jerry was released from the hospital
( j+ |5 `5 S& H2 J7 Awith fragments of the bullets still in his body.
3 ?6 k7 T8 v- _0 P7 F* Q! Y) ]  h1 A3 u
" H5 d1 [9 I3 l. }I saw Jerry about six months after the accident. / F) m. j  ]4 C9 [4 O$ k1 q; O
When I asked him how he was, he replied, "If I were
5 o+ q% {  |2 I' p& @9 }( Hany better, I'd be twins.
' A- j2 J9 i2 p& Z
2 f* s/ _& _/ h# M, F4 P9 i/ VWant to see my scars?" I declined to see his wounds, 1 {8 {% ~$ Q! J: j& Q) [0 a2 ~
but did ask him what had gone through his mind as   u! {1 R# V9 v2 b- T1 A* s
the robbery took place.
% s* Y6 o4 H& P* K  P* O& X( ]' m2 s
"The first thing that went through my mind was that
) m$ S0 ^' _, L$ q2 DI should have locked the back door," Jerry replied. 6 S- C. W# c& X! A8 \
"Then, after they shot me, as I lay on the floor, I
  j0 ~1 f# F/ u0 `0 G7 gremembered that I had two choices: I could choose to - c  h& ], r. X" `
live or choose to die. I chose to live."
: o9 _  ^+ C* ~$ V6 X& | , v6 N* {; P" P3 y
"Weren't you scared?" I asked. Jerry continued, "The
. f! G! v5 x! b9 zparamedics were great. They kept telling me. I was
1 A: B+ s6 A6 ^) E5 Dgoing to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the
6 U* N, h4 ?/ ^5 `2 n4 EEmergency Room and I saw the expressions on the ) t2 B2 y8 \' R" I1 L  M1 I' E, h9 [0 J
faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really
) d4 e0 B1 Y& e5 o. vscared. In their eyes, I read 'He's a dead man.' I ' ~9 r8 o' y5 X: H* S3 K
knew I needed to take action."
' ^% K; o# ]2 C6 _+ R! k; k- g' Q* W"What did you do?" I asked. "Well, there was a big
% N4 v  d7 H5 f4 b$ {) lnurse shouting questions at me," said Jerry. "She ' r7 J( C! M6 p0 j/ k6 X* [6 G
asked if I was allergic to anything."
) A: L' j9 `6 p1 I
0 X- D- T) `0 Y/ {9 b/ u, \2 `8 @3 X. A% k  A4 y. c
'Yes,' I replied. The doctors and nurses stopped
% E# U5 J! b2 j: Hworking as they waited for my reply. I took a deep
) l; E5 f+ i& `8 R2 |  breath and yelled, 'Bullets!' Over their laughter, I
& o  d, h8 K. @) Z4 g' t; s
. l1 B# j& X) r$ D, J+ N; t, ftold them, 'I am choosing to live. Please operate on 1 S# G* Y% }  g: ~. z8 [
me as if I am alive, not dead'."
1 O8 p" _& w" @. |" T# KJerry lived thanks to the skill of his doctors, but 7 ?1 [7 D, \4 m9 q* u
also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from 7 {9 K+ M6 \+ r6 u1 W5 K
him that every day you have the choice to either , t/ s% e2 t1 x; c/ J1 W* u
enjoy your life or to hate it. - y' F  e6 b7 |9 X
The only thing that is truly yours that no one can 2 a8 m, l$ \4 Z; {3 Y
control or take from you-is your attitude, so if you $ Z" w5 a' h% X' K
can take care of that, everything else in life
. p) t0 ^* Z9 f6 X% A8 ~+ m0 V4 ibecomes much easier. ; b/ ^" |* ^. J: A: n  u
& Q" V4 I8 C( N6 V" D
Now you have two choices to make: 1 |4 \. \# p! N+ a% I( w3 ?, p
1. You can just close the browser now OR 3 W4 ?' c' i  I4 N+ j- M) e
, z) c" D, A. {, s
2. You can forward it to someone you care about.
' ~9 Z0 ]4 R1 B! AI hope you will choose #2. I did.9 k( m4 d6 Y- S& k! j% b! I  p( f
